about

WHERE ARE YOU GOING I JUST COLLECTED SOME PELLETS is
the beautiful debut album by Nic Cassey.

Following a solo performance at a poetry night, Chris Hancock (AKA Monk Fly and Label manager for The Frequency Lab) suggested Nic record a few tracks, the idea stuck and in mid 2012 the concept was realised.

Nic recorded all the piano, guitar and vocals in one day, which saw the boys watching the sunrise from the Megaphone Studio rooftop. A second day was spent with Eden Ottignon (The Sun Chasers) and drummer Carlos Adura (Deep Sea Arcade) recording overdubs.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING I JUST COLLECTED SOME PELLETS is about experiences, thoughts, and characters that Nic wanted people to hear about. The name of the album came from an etching that was on the wall of a cottage where Nic and his partner where living.
Nic’s comment on this was, “Maybe I like it because chicken’s were frequently discussed at the cottage; or maybe it’s the relationship between the chicken and the plane that does it?”

The album shows an influence of diverse styles. Nic’s lyrics are equally eclectic, often concerned with subjects of the natural world, love and beauty. His voice has been compared to that of Tim Buckley and Matthew Bellamy. You’ll enjoy this album if you’re a fan of artists like Dervandra Banheat, Regina Spektor and Antony Hegarty
